Excited to announce my new adventure bringing local food stories and conversations to the airwaves with Table Talk Radio on 97.9 Valley FM! Pull up a chair and tune in as we explore the people, places, and flavours that make our food community so deliciously special.

Have you ever noticed how some of your most meaningful conversations happen around the kitchen table? There's something almost magical about gathering with others, breaking bread together, and sharing stories that nourish us. This connection between food and community has always fascinated me, and I'm excited to share some wonderful news with you today!

Table Talk Radio is coming soon to 97.9 Valley FM Vernon!

I'm telling you, when this opportunity presented itself to help showcase our incredible local food community, I couldn't say yes fast enough! What an absolute privilege it will be to bring the voices of our farmers, producers, and food lovers directly to your ears through the airwaves. Would you believe this feels like a natural extension of the food stories we've been collecting and sharing together all these years?

What's Table Talk All About?

Table Talk Radio will be exactly what the name suggests—real conversations about food, the folks who grow it, and all the delicious ways it brings us together. It's that simple!

Think of it as hanging out in a kitchen with friends, tea or wine in hand, chatting about what we're eating and why we love it. No fancy food terms or strict nutrition rules—just good talk about good food.

On the show, we'll chat about:

  • The local farmers who get their hands dirty so we can eat well

  • All the different ways Canadians cook and eat—from coast to coast

  • What's growing right now and tasty ways to enjoy it

  • Tips for feeling good about what's on your plate

  • Those food memories that hit you right in the heart (like the smell of fresh bread that takes you straight back to your grandma's kitchen)

Or... perhaps you're curious about the connection between what we eat and how we feel? We'll look into that too, with a focus on nourishment rather than restriction.

Why Radio?

You might have seen my food photos on Instagram (where I try very hard not to drop my phone into whatever I'm stirring). But radio lets us connect in a whole different way.

Close your eyes for a sec—imagine hearing the crackle of a just-baked pie crust or the enthusiasm in a farmer's voice when they talk about this year's bumper crop of strawberries. That's what makes radio so special for food talk.

Table Talk will be honest and relaxed—like when friends hang out in the kitchen and the real conversations happen. No rehearsed spiels or perfect food styling, just genuine chats about what we eat and why it matters. I can't wait to pass the mic to all the interesting food folks in our community and let their stories shine.

I'm so excited about this show because food brings us together in so many ways. We all eat, we all have food memories, and we all have stories to share around the table.

When Can You Tune In?

Table Talk Radio will be launching soon on 97.9 Valley FM Vernon! I'll let you know the exact date and time as soon as I find out (trust me, I'm checking my email hourly).

Meanwhile, I'd love to hear what you want from the show. Got a local food producer you think deserves some airtime? Wonder about something food-related that's been bugging you? Have a family recipe with a story that makes everyone cry or laugh until they snort? Drop me a line!

The kettle's on, there's always room for one more chair, and I'd be thrilled if you'd join us for some good old-fashioned Table Talk!

Ciao!

Loretta

What was your most memorable meal shared with others? How does radio change how you experience food stories compared to visual media? Which local food producer would you most like to hear interviewed? I'd love to hear from you!
